The Mini Series You Need to Be Watching

Step aside Netflix, you have a new series to catch up on.

NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly is seen inside a Soyuz simulator at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC), Wednesday, March 4, 2105 in Star City, Russia. Kelly, along with Expedition 43 Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), and Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka of Roscosmos were at GCTC for the second day of qualification exams in preparation for their launch to the International Space Station onboard a Soyuz TMA-16M spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan March 28, Kazakh time. As the one-year crew, Kelly and Kornienko will return to Earth on Soyuz TMA-18M in March 2016. Photo Credit: (NASA/Bill Ingalls)

You probably have heard of how Scott Kelly’s Year in Space is a pivotal step in our history. He has definitely taken advantage of that by doing countless interviews and making use of his social media. He has been everywhere from his personal Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr to public forums like Reddit to get engaged with the public. However, TIME’s documentary series takes the cake for giving you an intimate look at his story. Besides the interviews about the mission with Scott and his brother Mark Kelly , the series talks to his girlfriend and daughters to give the viewer a full understanding of the personal sacrifices Kelly is making. This unique personal touch is what makes TIME’s series so special; it doesn’t only focus on the importance of the science that is going on but also focuses on the human story of the guy center stage. If you are a big space nerd, you will enjoy all the information about what it is like to be an astronaut and the importance of the mission. But if you are not a space nerd (or your family/friends aren’t), you will still really enjoy this series and getting to know Scott Kelly and learning about how he and his family approach this colossal mission.

Anyways enough of my blabbing, GO AND WATCH IT! (That link includes the trailer which you might want to check out if I haven’t sold you totally on it…. but I mean COME ON.)

Happy Watching!!
